Running Our Race With Endurance
Hebrews 12:1-2

We are called to:
Lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely.
Run with endurance the race that is set before us
Look to Jesus

Lay aside every weight and sin
Even good things can become sinful to us
Ruthlessly Eliminate Sin (Matthew 5:29-30)
Put aside even the smallest sin
If you can’t obey in the small stuff, what makes you think you will be able to obey in the big stuff?

Run with endurance in the race set before you
Life is supposed to be difficult.
Jesus poured himself out in his work on earth (Philippians 2:5-8)
Rest is essential to endurance in our work

Look to Jesus
Jesus is the trailblazer of our faith
Jesus is the perfecter of our faith
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is about God, not you
Jesus’ joy is the glory of God (John 17)
The cross glorifies God by exalting Jesus and saving us (Philippians 2:9-11)
