Ephesians 2:1-10
- We were dead without Christ
Ephesians 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
God took us from death to life
Ephesians 2:2
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
We were led by the spirit of satan, not the spirit of God.
Ephesians 2:3
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
We followed our own sinful desires
- God made us alive in Christ.
Ephesians 2:4
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
God is rich in mercy and love
Ephesians 2:5
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
We are saved by His grace
- God raised us up in Christ
Ephesians 2:6
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Jesus is forever by our side
Ephesians 2:7
That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
We experience the richness of His grace
We know His kindness towards us through Jesus
- God saved us by His grace
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Saved by faith, alone
Nothing we do can save us
Salvation is freely given by God
- God saved us for a purpose
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are His workmanship
We are created in Jesus Christ for good works
This has been God’s eternal plan
Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
