Untied – May 7th, 2017

“And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”
Genesis 11:6 NKJV

I. The power of unity.
A. “What can people accomplish together?” (Genesis 11:1-9).
“Now imagine unity tied together with the power of the Holy Spirit.”
B. “from divided because of self glorifying…” (Acts 2:1-8).
“…to united in Christ.”
C. “When Jesus prayed for believers…”(John 17:20-23)
“He prayed for their unity first.”

II. The definition of unity.
A. “United does not mean agreeable.” (Acts 4:36, 15:36-41, 11:22-24).
“Even the son of encouragement argued.” (also see II Corinthians 7:8-12)
B. “It’s not having one opinion…” (Galatians 3:26-28).
“It’s being one in Christ.”
C. “Unity protects, empowers, and causes growth.” (Ephesians 4:11-16)
“When we put “I” before the cross, we become untied.”
III. Investing in unity.
A. “It’s not going to church, It’s being the church” (Hebrews 10:19-25)
“Assembling together becomes more important ‘as the Day approaches.’”
B. “But is it weekly or daily?” (Acts 2:46-47)
“Investing in someone is different from knowing and being around them.”
C. “The early church was completely invested in each other”
(Acts 1:9-14, 2:40-47, 4:32-37)
D. “Filling needs in the church should be automatic…” (Romans 12:3-8)
“But we are called to minister to each other – who are you ministering to?”
